The fifth category: Rion Brown saves the day for Enisey


Here comes the Hurricane. Rion Brown scored nine points in the last five minutes to lift Enisey over Tartu University/Maks&Moorits 70-63 on Wednesday, January 5, at the Tartu Ulikooli hall in southern Estonia.


Players of the game

Rion Brown was huge in the clutch time.


A former Miami Hurricanes guard made three three-pointers to destroy the titanic efforts of the home team.


Brown left the court with 14 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the three point line.


He added six rebounds, three assists and three steals.




Casper Ware was hot too.


Long Beach State standout had 12 points, seven assists and three steals.


Ware played 31:06 minutes and Enisey outscored Tartu by 17 points during that stretch.


Aleksandr Gudumak posted solid eight points, five rebounds and two steals.



Edmunds Elksnis scored 11 of his 14 points in the second half.


Latvian point guard led a third quarter comeback for Tartu.


Elksnis dished out six assists and stole the ball twice.


Emmanuel Wembi was everywhere and collected a big double-double.


Lenoir-Rhyne standout grabbed 13 rebounds, including seven boards in offense.


Wembi scored a game high 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field and 6-of-8 from the three point line.



Raquan Mitchell had 11 points in his first game for the Estonian team.


A former Colorado State and New Mexico Highlands player cut the gap to three points with 56 seconds left.


Adomas Drungilas also finished in double figures.


Tartu captain scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds.



Key stats

Enisey held Tartu to 18 points in the first half.


Both teams scored just 49 points before the intermission.


Edmunds Elksnis scored 10 points – including two three pointers – in the third quarter to engineer a Tartu comeback.



Enisey scored five three pointers in the final stanza to stay in control.


Sonko and Mitusov hit a one three pointer each, while Rion Brown stole the show.


He made a consecutive three point shots to renew a double digit lead for Enisey 63-53.


Mitchell scored eight of the final ten Tartu points to give his team another chance 66-63.


Brown had another three pointer in the next possession to put an exclamation mark 69-63!



Tartu outrebounded Enisey 42-38, especially in the offensive end 22-12.


Enisey players connected 9-of-24 three point attempts compared to 9-of-39 for Tartu.


Tartu bench outscored Enisey 50-34.



Game notes

Enisey improved to 3-0, while Tartu dropped to 3-2.


Tartu signed Raquan Mitchell prior to the game. He played for Beroe at Bulgaria`s top flight.


Enisey played three games in four days and traveled home to eastern Siberia for a New Year`s break.


Krasnoyarsk team traveled for 18 hours on Tuesday.
