Sweet home Alabama... CSO Voluntari keep rocking at Martini Plaza




CSO Voluntari trailed by 13 points early in the game but quickly regained initiative to secure a 89-83 road win over Donar Groningen on Wednesday, October 23, at the Martini Plaza in northern part of the Netherlands.

Eight players scored in double figures.


Lewis Sullivan led the visitors with 20 points.


A former University of Alabama at Birmingham big man shot 9/13 from the field.


Sullivan sank both free throws too and grabbed four rebounds.


Kodi Justice followed with 19 points on 7/13 shooting from the field, including a 3/7 effort from the deep.


A 2024 ENBL finalist from Arizona State University filled the stat line with four rebounds, three assists and two steals.


Luca Tohatan produced 18 points, four rebounds and four assists of the bench.


Alexandru Olah didn`t missed a field goal attempt inside the three point line and had 14 points.


James Karnik led Donar with 28 points on 13/22 shooting from the field.


A Czech-Canadian center added 10 rebounds enroute to a double-double performance.


Boston College big man dished out two assists too.


Zach Harvey contributed with 19 points.


A former University of California at Santa Barbara power forward had four assists and two steals.


Keevan Veinot checked out with 16 points on 5/14 shooting from the court.


Finally, center Filip Brankovič scored 11 points.



Key stats

Donar Groningen started the game with a 10-23 run.


It didn`t continued for long as CSO Voluntari took the lead six minutes later, 29-28.


Kodi Justice and Lewis Sullivan did a lot of damage as the visitors extended their lead up to five points at the half, 48-43.


The visitors doubled their lead in the third quarter and never trailed again.


CSO Voluntari shot 65 percent from the two point line, 30/46.


Centers Lewis Sullivan and Alexandru Olah combined for a 16/20 effort alone.


They won the battle of the paint, 54-46.


Voluntari bench outscored Donar, 34-14, thanks to a big night by Tohatan and Olah.



Game notes

CSO Voluntari improved to 2-0, while Donar Groningen dropped to 0-3.


Ainars Bagatskis and his won the first battle on the road in front of 2500 fans.


Donar Groningen need some wins to stay in the playoff race.
