Ready for more European adventures: welcome, BK Opava!




BK Opava is the second club from Czechia to play in the European North Basketball league.


Basket Brno play in the ENBL from 2021 and earned a bronze medal at the 2022 Final Four.


Two Czech clubs – Žabiny Brno and SBŠ Ostrava – have played at the European Women`s basketball league.


Žabiny Brno will play in the EuroLeague Women qualifiers, was announced on July 5.


BK Opava was founded in 1945.


Club has 11 trophies in its collection, including five Czech championships (1997, 1998, 2002, 2003, 2023).


The first golden era of Opava started in 1996 when club won the second league.


A year later team won the first league as well.


Opava secured 10 trophies in a span of eight seasons, including that second league title.


Back-to-back league triumphs in 1997-1998 and 2002-2003 were joined by a three peat at the Czech Cup (1997-1999) and two more successes in a latter competition.


The road back to the glory started in 2018 when Opava reached the Kooperativa NBL final for the first time since 2003.


Four more consecutive finals followed from 2020 until 2023.


Opava won the sixth Czech Cup in 2022 and the fifth league championship in 2023.


A team, coached by Petr Czudek, finished the 2022-2023 regular season in the seventh place with a 17-19 record.


Opava defeated second seeded Basket Brno in the quartertfinals, 4-2, and top seeded Nymburk in the semifinals, 4-3.


Finally, Opava prevailed in the best-of-five series against the 2023 Czech Cup winners Dečin, 3-1.


Opava entered the Basketball Champions league in 2018 together with Nymburk while Pardubice played in the qualifiers.


The Czech team posted two home wins against Nanterre, 74-67, and Telekom Baskets Bonn, 73-71.


Last year Opava again played at the Basketball Champions league and competed against the 2024 French Cup winner Jeanne d`Arc Dijon Basket, a 2024 Lithuanian champion Rytas Vilnius and Promitheas Patras.


Last but not least, Opava played at the 2021-2022 FIBA Europe Cup and won the home game against Heroes Den Bosch, 88-72.


At the 2022-2023 Opava played at the FIBA Europe Cup again and won the home games against Patrioti Levice and BC Balkan, and won 79-74 at Keravnos.


Opava play in the best Basketball arena in Czechia and its fans create enthusiastic atmosphere of the “yellow hell”.


Historic city is located in northeastern Czechia, approximately 200 kilometres from Polish cities of Wroclaw and Krakow, 170 kilometres from Brno, 300 kilometres from Vienna and 370 kilometres from Prague.
