Mickelson, Pulpan and Puršl destroy Borisfen in the second half

Basket Brno stormed out of the starting blocks to deliver a 88-67 success over Borisfen Mogilev on Wednesday, December 1, at Tartu University sports hall in southern Estonia.


Players of the game

Dean Hunter Mickelson produced a great opening night stat line. Kansas standout scored 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field and 5-of-10 from the free throw line.


Center completed a double-double with 14 rebounds. Mickelson added one assist, one steal and three blocked shots for the winners.


Simon Puršl scored nine of his 18 points in the third quarter. Czech international hit two three pointers and had five rebounds too.

Viktor Pulpan flirted with triple double enroute to 10 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Point guard added three steals.


Youngsters Richard Balint and Jakub Necas scored 14 nd 11 points respectively.



Viachaslau Korzh led Borisfen with 15 points. Veteran point guard forced five fouls and made 6-of-8 shots from the free throw line.

Ilya Sharipov had 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field.


Nathan Hoover chipped in with 11 points. Wofford graduate scored most of his points from downtown and grabbed five boards.


Center Marcanvis Hymon had a nice stat line too. Ole Miss standout posted seven points, 10 rebounds and one blocked shot before he was fouled out.


Last but not least, Cornelius Taylor struggled in offense. Florida Atlantic graduate finished the game with nine points and three rebounds.




Key stats

Basket Brno finished the first half with a 12-2 run to build a double digit lead 39-27.


The Czech team went on a 18-1 run early in the fourth quarter to double its lead up to 34 points 84-50.


Cornelius Taylor scored all nine of his points in a span of 100 seconds late in the third quarter but missed another 11 shots throughout the game.


Marcanvis Hymon was fouled out just before Taylor`s explosion.

Brno scored more points off turnovers (20-8) and in fast breaks (12-5).


The Czech team moved the ball much better and registered 30 field goals on 25 assists. The Knights had 24 field goals on eight assists.


Game notes

Three Brno players – Simon Puršl, Ondrej Hustak and Richard Korner – represented Czech Republic and Slovakia during the 2023 FIBA World Cup qualifiers. Hustak wasn`t available on Wednesday.


Borisfen head coach Andrei Krivonos and player Vlad Mikulsky helped Belarus to beat Turkey on November 25.
