Liepāja played more aggressive and forced 16 turnovers in the first half alone to win an all-Latvian battle against Valmiera Glass/Vidzemes augstskola 82-69 on Wednesday, October 20, at Vidzeme Olympic Center in Valmiera.

Verners Kohs led all scorers with 18 points. Liepāja forward didn`t relied on his shot this time, playing more aggressively closer to the basket.
Kohs forced five fouls and made 11-of-12 free throws. He added four rebounds, two steals and one blocked shot.
Zigmārs Raimo was another universal soldier for Liepāja. Hawaii graduate scored 12 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished five assists before he was fouled out.
Roberts Krastiņš was deadly from the deep. He made 4-of-5 three point shots enroute to 16 points.
Roberts Bērziņš chipped in with 14 points, five rebounds and two steals. He was also fouled out.
Charles Carter III replied with 15 points. Valmiera point guard had three assists and one steal too.
Ervīns Jonāts had double-double, finishing the game with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Jānis Kaufmanis added eight points, five rebounds and six assists.

Liepāja forced 29 turnovers and stole the ball 16 times.
Valmiera accumulated just six steals and forced 16 turnovers, including 10 in the second half.
The hosts won the battle of rebounds (37-29) but didn`t capitalize on it and scored just two second chance points.
Liepāja used its chances better and scored more points in fast breaks (11-15, first half 2-9).
Four Liepāja players – including captain Roberts Krastiņš – scored in double figures.
Liepāja led by 13 points at half 41-28.
Valmiera never got closer by 10 points after the break.

Liepāja improved to 1-1, while Valmiera dropped to 0-2.
Kārlis Šiliņš, a starting center for Liepāja, didn`t played on Wednesday.
Liepāja will play its next game on December 4.
