Spišski Rytieri is the second club from Slovakia which will play in the European North Basketball league.
Spišská Nová Ves is a small city situated in the east part of Slovakia under the High Tatras and known as a gate to the national park named Slovak Paradise.
It`s surrounded by a beautiful nature and also known for sports.
Spišská Nová Ves is located 360 kilometres east of capital Bratislava.
It`s closer to second largest Slovak city Košice (80 kilometres) and a Polish royal city of Krakow (driving distance 170 kilometres).
Košice hosted the European Women`s basketball league`s Final Eight tournament in 2017, while Pieštany hosted the EWBL Final Four in 2022.
Spišska basketball has a rich tradition, extending across 75 years.
Spišski Rytieri are regular members of the highest Slovak league from 2004 and have advanced to the semifinals in 2007, 2013, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024.
The Knights have won Slovak championship in 2021 and two Slovak Cups (2006, 2021).
Spišski Rytieri finished the regular season with a 16-16 record and defeated third seeded Iskra Svit in the best-of-five quarterfinal series, 3-1.
The Knights also defeated second seeded Prievidza in the semifinals, 3-1.
Spišski Rytieri fell at the hands of Patrioti Levice in the Slovak league finals, 1-3.
Club has also played at the Alpe Adria Cup, facing teams from Austria, Czechia, Poland and Croatia.
Spišski Rytieri defeated Austrian, Czech and Polish opponents on the home floor.
