Jason Dourisseau gets his first ENBL win with Donar Groningen




Donar Groningen rewarded their fans and doubled their win count after a 87-84 home victory over Spartak Pleven on Wednesday, December 11, at the Martini Plaza in the northern Netherlands.

No Keevan Veinot, no James Karnik and no Andrej Štimac – Donar Groningen looked different than at the start of the season.


You need to step up when the lineups change and Donar players did exactly that.


Five men finished in double figures.


Stijn Hintzbergen averaged less than nine minutes in his first five ENBL games.


Young center posted 14 points and 11 rebounds on Wednesday night.


Power forward David Gabrovšek also improved his ENBL record and scored 15 points.


Zach Harvey also had 15 points along three steals.


Tim Hoeve and Kjeld Zuidema scored 14 and 13 points respectively.


DaQuan Bracey led Spartak Pleven with a game high 20 points.


A former Louisiana Tech guard went 9/12 from the field and dished out five assists.


Fellow guard Trey Hollowell helped with 18 points.



Key stats

Stijn Hentzbergen and David Gabrovšek helped Donar to win battle under the baskets.


Donar Groningen scored more points in the paint, 52-34.


The hosts also had more second chance points, 18-8.


Donar players turned the ball over just nine times.


Kris Minkov tied the game at 84 with 02:19 left.


Spartak Pleven didn`d scored a point the rest of the way.


Sam Van Oostrum registered a game winning basket with 02:10 to go.



Game notes

Donar Groningen improved to 2-4, while Spartak Pleven dropped to 0-5.


Head coach Jason Dourisseau posted his first win with Donar.


Omaha, Nebraska born Dourisseau represented Donar from 2009-2014 and then again, from 2015-2020.


He helped Groningen win five Dutch championships (2010, 2014, 2016-2018), four Dutch Cups (2010, 2014, 2017, 2018) and two Supercups (2015, 2017).


Eight days ago he took the coaching reins from Andrej Štimac.


Dourisseau`s first ENBL game turned into success.
