Fantastic Five deliver 4-0 for superb Valmiera




Ten players finished in scoring list as superb Valmiera Glass ViA posted a 101-83 road win over Tartu Ulikool Maks&Moorits on Tuesday, November 5, at the University of Tartu Sports Hall in southern Estonia,


Players of the game

Valmiera had three winless seasons with 19 consecutive losses.


It`s a distant history now as Nikolajs Mazurs team has second best active win streak after the Bakken Bears.


Verners Kohs had a perfect day as he finished with 17 points on flawless 7/7 shooting from the field.


Forward went 3/3 from the three point line and grabbed nine rebounds too.


Rostislav Novitskyi led all scorers with 20 points.


A former Fordham big man blocked two shots and forced six fouls.


Kahliel Spear (Robert Morris) had 15 points and a game high 14 points.


Jordan Watson (West Liberty University) chipped in with 15 points and seven assists.


Radford graduate DaQuan Smith filled the stat sheet with 13 points, nine assists and two steals.


Martin Paasoja answered with 16 points.


Tartu guard shot 5/8 from the field, including 3/6 from the deep.


Jalen Henry (Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville) checked out with 15 points.



Key stats

Omar El-Sheikh, one of Tartu key players, played less than two minutes in the second half.


His little playing time affected outcome in the paint, 44-24.


Valmiera shot 54 percent from the field, 45 percent from the three point line and 81 percent from the charity stripe.


Novitskyi rocked under the basket, while Kohs and Watson combined for 8/8 shooting from the field in the first half alone.


Valmiera took a convincing 56-38 lead at the half, after scoring 33 points in the second quarter.


Tartu cut the gap to 10 points early in the fourth quarter but never came closer.



Game notes

Valmiera Glass ViA improved to 4-0, while Tartu Ulikool dropped to 0-3.


Valmiera posted the first win against Tartu in the ENBL action and now has a 1-2 record.


Nikolajs Mazurs had a 2-0 record with Tartu against Valmiera before he signed at Šiauliai.


Valmiera Glass ViA are 11-2 in all competitions.
