Elementary, my dear Watson: Valmiera Glass ViA erase 19 points deficit against Donar





Valmiera Glass ViA trailed by 19 points midway the second quarter but thanks to a brilliant game by Jordan Watson returned in full force and defeated Donar Groningen in overtime, 81-78 (68-68), on Tuesday, October 8, at the Vidzeme Olympic center in northern Latvia.


Players of the game

Valmiera scored only 15 points in the first 16 minutes of the game but recovered surprisingly fast.


Jordan Watson made back-to-back three pointers with two minutes left in the first half to fuel a 26-5 run.


Philadelphia born player from West Liberty University finished the game with 36 points – the second best result in ENBL history.


Watson went 8/13 from the three point line to set a new ENBL record.


A previous record was set by another Valmiera player – Jānis Kaufmanis.


Kahliel Spear acted as an defensive rock for Valmiera.


A former Bucknell and Robert Morris power forward grabbed a rebound on the defensive end, and did it again, and again, and again.


He finished with 18 rebounds – just three boards short from repeating ENBL record.


Zach Harvey led Donar with 24 points.


A former UC Santa Barbara guard tied the game at 68 with seven seconds left in regulation.

Donar Groningen led by 19 points, 15-34, after a 6/9 barrage from the three point line.


Artis Ate hit a go-ahead three for Valmiera, 41-39, to finish a big comeback run.


Donar fought until the end and tied the game at 68.


There was a video review and the game clock was reset to 1.7 seconds.


Keevan Veinot missed a three point attempt way behind the logo.


Valmiera outscored Donar in overtime 13-10.
