Eagle eyed CSO Voluntari set a new ENBL scoring record

CSO Voluntari shot amazing 67 percent from the field to set a new ENBL scoring record and sail past Spartak Pleven, 118-80, on Tuesday, January 28, at the Balkanstroy Hall in northern Bulgaria.

Tuesday marked four full weeks as Romania and Bulgaria – finally – became full Schengen members.


Border control free crossing with other EU Member States is now allowed not only in airports – it reduces travel time and hassle between neighbor countries.


CSO Voluntari celebrated their first visit across southern border with a new ENBL scoring record.


Seven visitors registered in double figures.


Lewis Sullivan led the way with 24 points on amazing 10/12 shooting from the field.


University of Alabama at Birmingham big man made both three pointers.


Point guard Lucas Tohatan contributed with 15 points and 10 assists.


Mike Caffey had eight points and 11 assists in less than 20 minutes.


Serbian center Igor Kesar answered with 23 points for Spartak Pleven.



Key stats

CSO Voluntari scored 36 points in the first quarter – just a couple shots away from tying an ENBL record.


The visitors posted 25 and more points in every remaining quarter to beat a three year old achievement by Anwil Wloclawek.


CSO Voluntari had 29 assists on 44 field goals made.


The visitors turned the ball over just seven times.


Spartak Pleven shot 43 percent from the field.

CSO Voluntari improved to 6-2, while Spartak Pleven dropped to 0-7.


There is a three way tie between CSO Voluntari, Dziki Warszawa and Valmiera Glass ViA at the top of Group A.


A tie breaker currently places teams as follows: CSO Voluntari are 1-1 and +19; Dziki Warszawa are 1-1 and -8; Valmiera Glass ViA are 1-1 and -11.


Everything will change if Newcastle Eagles lose at Tartu – then Valmiera will top the Group A, followed by Newcastle, Voluntari and Dziki.


CSO Voluntari will finish second if Newcastle Eagles win at Tartu Ulikool.
