
CSO Voluntari earned their first trophy with Ainars Bagatskis at helm after they defeated Liga Nationala leader CSU Oradea, 93-83, at the Cupa Romaniei 2025 final on Sunday, February 16, at the Oradea Arena in front of 5000 spectators.
Voluntari started the Final Eight in style as they prevailed against 2025 EuroCup playoffs team Cluj Napoca, 101-95, on February 13.
Bucharest club bested Targu Mures, 94-76, in a semifinal clash on Friday, February 14.
Saturday was a rest day – Voluntari used it well to recharge their batteries and clear their minds.
Seven Voluntari players scored in double figures as the Bucharest club led throughout the game.
Lewis Sullivan scored 16 points, while Lee Skinner added 14 points.
It was the third Cup success for Voluntari as they previously won in 2021 and 2022.
Bagatskis led Voluntari to the 2024 ENBL Final in Aarhus, Denmark, and earned a bronze medal at the 2024 Romania championship.
