Cheerful eight: undermanned Dziki advance to the playoffs



New kids are on the block! Dziki Warszawa secured a maiden trip to the 2025 playoffs after a 98-77 road success against Spartak Plevel on Wednesday, January 8, at the Balkanstroy hall in northern Bulgaria.

Dziki had only eight available players but they played for each other.


Denzel Andersson had a great night.


Swedish forward scored 17 points on 6/9 shooting from the field and registered +28 ratio in just 23 minutes of play.


Guard Mateusz Szlachetka shined with 12 points and a game high seven assists.


Maciej Bender had 13 points.


A former Mercer University big man registered his first double-double in the ENBL, as he grabbed 11 rebounds.


Rickey McGill provided spark from the bench with eight points, six assists and two steals.


Ohio State University forward Andre Wesson led all scorers with 18 points.


Christian Keeling replied with 16 points.


University of North Carolina guard dished out six assists.


Serbian center Igor Kesar followed with 13 points.

Key stats

Dziki had a small rotation – seven out of eight players played 23 minutes and more each.


The visitors registered 25 assists on 35 field goals.


Dziki outscored Spartak from the three point line, 14/26 against 7/23.


Thanks to their shooting prowess, they didn`t lost a single quarter.


Four visitors – Andre Wesson, Denzel Andersson, Mateusz Szlachetka and experienced shooting guard Piotr Pamula – made three or more three pointers each.


Dziki lead gradually increased from the start and stayed in double digits throughout the fourth quarter.

Dziki Warszawa improved to 5-2, while Spartak Pleven dropped to 0-6.


Krzysztof Szablowski and his men advanced to the ENBL playoffs for the first time.
