Balint ties Kaufmanis record, Brno make it rain at Liepāja



Basket Brno went on a 31-8 opening run and never looked back to beat Liepāja 104-64 on Wednesday, March 2, at the Liepāja Olympic centre in western Latvia.

Richard Balint was on fire again.


Young Czech international scored 26 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the field.


Balint tied an ENBL three point record, connecting 7-of-9 attempts from the deep.


Shooting guard added six rebounds, nine assists, three steals and a +/- ratio 41.



Kytel Rashad Madden was sharp like a Swiss knife.


Arkansas standout scored 12 points and dished out 11 assists.


Madden registered a +/- ratio 45 in less than 32 minutes of play.


Dean Hunter Mickelson posted 13 points in 13 minutes.


Danilo Djuričič had 17 points and 11 rebounds.


Slovak point guard Roman Marko chipped in with 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists.



Roberts Bērziņš led Liepāja with 17 points and five assists.


Roberts Krastiņš made 4-of-8 three point shots for 14 points.


Kārlis Šiliņš and Oskars Hlebovickis scored 11 and 10 points respectively.



Key stats

Liepāja front court struggled from the start and didn`t got enough help from the guards.


Brno outrebounded the hosts 52-20.


The Czech team hit the right strides and was unstoppable from the three point land.


Brno players made 18 of 27 three pointers for amazing 67% accuracy.


Liepāja performance from the deep wasn`t too bad either – 11 of 33.



Brno build a 30 points lead in just 20 minutes 55-25.


Liepāja recovered in the third quarter and scored 25 points but it wasn`t enough to repair the damage 50-75.
